Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu
Immerse yourself in the legacy of the Inca empire this tour will take you through the exuberant beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will travel through impressive landscapes, small adobe villages and villages with traditionally dressed Quechua inhabitants, small farms and agricultural terraces. You will spend the night in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) in order to arrive early to the Lost City of the Incas, the mysterious Machu Picchu.
Itinerary of Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu
Cusco - Sacred Valley
At the agreed time, usually around 8:00 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and head for the fertile Valley of the Urubamba River, the famous Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be in Pisac, a picturesque town of cobbled streets full of adobe mud-brick homes and locals dressed in traditional costumes, in whose height lie the Inca vestiges of the archaeological complex of Pisac.
We will enjoy a 2 hour guided tour of the archaeological zone, including the agricultural terraces of Pisac, the ceremonial area with its Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, Inca baths, and the military Citadel of Q'allaqasa. Depending on the day of the week, we will also visit the popular vibrant market of Pisac (those who wish to spend more time in the market can coordinate an hour of meeting with the guide for the continuity of the tour).
Continuing our tour, we will pass through several small towns en route to Urubamba at noon we will make a stop to have a delicious buffet luch of typical Andean food. (Lunch is not included in the tour).
After the lunch break we will drive to Ollantaytambo, 30 minutes more in por private transportation. Built on the original Inca foundations, the city is one of the best examples of Inca urban planning. It is located at the foot of the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the largest and best preserved Inca buildings, considered as the only Inca fortress that resisted the Spanish attack.
Afterwards we will go to the train station, where we will board the train that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes. After an hour, we'll reach the small and colorful village of Aguas Calientes. A representative of Pirwa Hostel Machu Picchu will be waiting for you at the station and will help you reach the hostel so you can settle in and relax.
You will have the rest of the afternoon free to relax, explore the city, or perhaps visit the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes (to which it owes its name)
Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo – Cusco
This day we'll start early with a delicious breakfast, at 5am we will go out to take the first bus to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and avoid the crowds that arrive in the first trainsof the day. We will reach the doors of the Sanctuary that opens at 6am. Wi'll enjoy a 2 hour tour of the Lost City of the Incas to learn about the history and meaning of its most impressive areas. After the tour, you will have free time to explore and take photos. You can also go on the excursion to the Puerta del Sol, the Puente del Inca or climb the Huayna Picchu to take a wonderful photo of Machu Picchu.
(Please tell us in advance and wishes to go up to Huayna Picchu, since the tickets are limited and must be purchased at the same time as the entrance of a Machu Picchu There is an additional cost of USD $ 12 per person)
The guide will tell you where and when to board the bus for the return trip to Aguas Calientes. In the village of Aguas Calientes you will have time for lunch (lunch is not included in the tour but Aguas Calientes has many restaurants to choose from). After picking up our luggage at the hostel, we will go to the train station to board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where we'll arrived at 19:00 and our private transportation will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusco, arriving around 10:00 pm or 10:30 pm . at the hotel.
