Join in as Nazca Celebrates its Anniversary this Week

The city of Nazca has been building up to its anniversary this week, but we’ve still got a few days left of concerts, fireworks, food fairs, and parade as we work our way towards the main day of festivities this Saturday. Here’s the official schedule:

Thursday, January 21st

9:30am           Handicraft Fair at Plaza Bolgnesi
7:00pm           Cultural Night with local artists in the main square of Nazca

Friday, January 22nd

7:00pm           Cultural Night with local artists in the main square of Nazca
23:00am         Midnight Serenade and Fireworks in the main square of Nazca
12:15am          Social Dance, with concert by Orquesta Papillón and Corazón Serrano in
Nazca’s Municipal Stadium

Saturday, January 23rd

6:00am          Gun Salute outside the Cathedral of Nazca
7:00am          Municipal Band at the Cathedral of Nazca
8:00am          Mass in honor of the 75th anniversary of Nazca Province in the Cathedral of
Nazca
9:00am          Raising of the local and national flags, followed by a civic parade
12:00pm        Anniversary Food Fair at the Municipal Stadium, with performances by the
Dilbert Aguilar Orquesta, Nostalgia Nasqueña, and Orquesta D’ Rios Banb

The small city of Nazca, located on the desert coast of Peru, is well-known for its famous Nazca Lines. It has more to offer however, boasting relics from the Paracas and Nazca cultures: the amazingly well-preserved mummies of Chauchillas cemetery, the pyramids of Cahuachi, and the unique Cantayoc Aqueducts.
